■Research summary
“English” as required by the Japanese, analyzed from a social linguistic point of view

With the spread of globalization, English is acknowledged globally as one of the international languages, and the Japanese government has raised the internationalization of the Japanese people as a big target, to respond to globalism and is placing priority in English education, backed by the need to develop human resources who can be successful in international society. I have been pursuing what kind of English education and policies are required to develop human resources who will be successful in international society, what is meant by internationalization of the Japanese, and what the “English” to be acquired by the Japanese is, by analyzing various English being spoken globally and about English education and English learning situation in other countries, together with the global situation.
