 Our research interests lie in the fields of robotics and biological systems that demonstrate aesthetically "beautiful" agile movements and provide a motivation for developing dexterous intelligent machines and robots. While living creatures offer a proof-of-concept for intelligent motion control, our current understanding of such systems is definitely not complete. On the other hand, we possess a much better understanding of how artificial systems, such as robots, work, although these systems clearly have many shortcomings and are not yet perfect.

Our research goal is to bridge the gap between robotic and biological systems. One of the paths toward achieving this goal is in designing intelligent machines and control systems, based on biologically-inspired principles together with classical dynamics and modern control theories.
