Clarification of metabolic response of human skeletal muscle protein, particularly protein assimilation mechanism due to locomotor stimulation and nutrient intake

 I specialize in exercise physiology and am engaged in the research on skeletal muscle protein metabolism with a focus on the decrease in muscle mass and muscle function (sarcopenia) due to aging.
I am advancing a research to clarify the mechanism of protein synthesis and decomposition not only by measuring the change of metabolic system but at the level of a molecule, comparing the protein metabolism between the younger generation and the older generation. I am attempting to research the exercise prescription to maintain and promote general adults' health and to improve athletes' performance, and nutrient intake including supplements from various viewpoints of basics and applications at the Ritsumeikan University.
