■Research summary
Study on understanding humans using cognitive science and the development and design of personification agent

 Massive studies have been made for human collaboration solutions in the area of cognitive science, and studies are being amassed through various methods such as spot observation, psychological experiments, computer simulation and others. On the other hand, in the field for HCI (Human Computer Interaction), studies are making progress for the development of dialogue agent and expectations are focused in the application of information science technology to learning support.

With these in the background, studies have been made by Hayashi to first understand the cognition process and communication mechanisms in human to human collaboration based on the knowledge of cognition science. Then, based on the knowledge and cognition model obtained, a dialogue agent was developed for the study of interaction between human and the dialogue agent. Especially, in collaboration, the interaction with others with a different point of view, the process of how new knowledge are generated has attracted our interest and empirical studies have been made for factors that promote agent based performance. Furthermore, as a more practical issue (1) Studies concerning promotion factors for point of view acquisition in group level collaborative learning, and (2) Development and design of learning support environment using a dialogue agent in the education scene have been conducted.

情報科学と心理学の融合に向けて
 林研究室では,人間の認知や人と人,人とシステムのインタラクションのメカニズムを理解し,その活動をコンピュータを用いて支援することを目標とした研究を行っています.テーマは,知覚や認知から人間と人間,ロボット・擬人化エージェントとの社会的インタラクションまで幅広く扱っています.各テーマは心理学や社会学による理論的分析に加え,人工知能や情報科学の知見によるモデル化やシステム開発を行っており,それが本研究室の特徴の一つです.具体的には,実験室実験や調査,シミュレーション,システム開発など学際的なアプローチを採用しており,多角的な視点でものごとを捉えられるようになるための教育を行っております.
