Research summary
Analysis of patents contributing to strategic management With “Nation built on intellectual property” being raised as a national strategy, awareness regarding intellectual property, especially on patents, is rising in companies. Under an environment where patent use by companies is spreading, Japanese companies are trying to utilize their patents effectively. In other words, it is now aiming for active use to obtain patent income through licensing and patent right transfers, in addition to conventional protective passive use. In order to achieve this, it is not just the acquisition of many patents, but is the need to evaluate the value of the patents held by the company, concentrate management resources into patented technologies with value, establish a management strategy to strategically acquire patents, and also establish R&D strategy.
