Research summary
Study on the relationship between the existence of agriculture and social capital I study on the role of social capital for the existence of agriculture and regional social activities in the rural areas of Japan. Main study areas are rural areas in Kumamoto Prefecture and the fruit growing areas in Nagasaki Prefecture. The aim is to elucidate reginal response to problems like the increase of abandoned cultivated lands and the shortage of agriculture bearers, through intensive field work, focusing on regional social relationships. I also study rural areas from the view point of relational rural geogeraphy.
