Research summary
Study to grasp the relationship between cities and architectural space and human sensation, cognition, and behavior and how to reflect it on to architectural planning and design methods To plan and design rational architecture based on human sensation, behavior, and physiological reaction is important. However, the designer does not have a clear basis in the creation of architectural designs aimed at obtaining specific impressions or receiving good evaluation. Although there are many basic theories and rules in architectural planning studies, the final design is based on the individual sensation and knowledge of the designer. This makes it extremely difficult to make a theoretical explanation of the process of creating the design by the designer and its mechanism has hardly been explained. Till now, sensitivity was believed to be the driving force for human behavior and design creativity and studies have been made for design methods incorporating sensitivity. This is to elicit a design solution taking the behavior of human sensitivity and the architecture (environment) as a system, by the creation of a model between the preference of the user and the elements that comprise the space as a knowledge to be shared with others. In recent years, human monitoring technology and non-linear analysis methods have enabled the complex relationship between architecture, the space in the cities, and human sensation, cognition, and behavior to be handled as it is in its vague condition. Using these methods, attempt is being made aiming at architecture to be more rational for people, by creating a model of human sensation, sense of vision, and physiological reaction of the brain to establish a design method using physiological evidence, for incorporation into design methods.
