Research summary
Structural Bioscience for Improvement of Nature Environment and Drug Design Global warming related to the increased amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere is urgent to be solved. The environmental deterioration and expanding human population cause infectious diseases; therefore, the new strategy for drug design is also needed in recent years. In our laboratory, the structure-function-motion relationships of the photosynthetic proteins involved in carbon dioxide fixation, and the infection-related protein are investigated, using combined technique of X-ray crystallography, small angle X-ray scattering, an electron microscope, and high-resolution single-molecule measurement. The information together with global collaboration gives us the keys to improve the natural environment and develop a new strategy for drug design.
