1.	Prediction of intestinal drug absorption and intestinal drug metabolism

Research summary
Model construction of drug intestinal absorption and drug intestinal first-pass metabolism Administered drug are absorbed and metabolized in the small intestine. A model that could evaluate drug absorption and metabolism in the small intestine would be useful for pharmacokinetic study. Currently, experimental animals and cancer cell lines such as Caco-2 cells are widely used as intestinal models because primary human small intestinal epithelial cells are difficult to obtain and culture. However, these existing models do not accurately reflect the human small intestine functions. Recently, Molecular biology research methods such as genome editing technology and gene expression control technology using viral vectors are rapidly developing. In this study, we will work on constructing models that could predict drug intestinal absorption and drug metabolism using by molecular biological technologies such as genome editing technology and viral vectors.
