Research summary
Preventing shoulder and elbow injuries by conditioning muscles around the scapular Baseball players undergoing surgery on shoulders and elbows are getting younger these days. In the limited time at junior high school and high school, long-term withdrawal caused by surgeries from sports participation is fatal, and it may also affect future life as an athlete. In order to avoid such long-term withdrawal, it is very important to prevent the occurrence of pain in the elbow and shoulder due to overuse and to treat it before the surgery is necessary by early detection. Occurrence of shoulder / elbow pain is thought to be related to the functions of the underlying shoulder and scapula (scapular girdle), but there is no scientific evidence of this, and preventive measures have not yet been established. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to elucidate the cause of the pain in young baseball players by prospectively following the shoulder girdle function and shoulder and elbow pain occurrence. The results obtained will contribute to the establishment of a conditioning program that is effective in preventing shoulder and elbow pain due to overuse, and will help young baseball players to play baseball without injury, which will lead to a fulfilling youth experience and future player life extension.
