Research summary
Studies to elucidate the preparation and generation process of earthquakes. Based upon in-situ date at the closest proximity of the hypocenter, we elucidate the preparation and generation process of earthquakes. Experimental fields are at 1 - 3.5 km depth at South African gold mines.The projects, except for those listed in this database, which I chaired, include the following: JSPS Core-to-Core Program (B. Asia-Africa)(Coordinator; 2017-2019) ICDP "Drilling into seismogenic zones of M2.0-M5.5 earthquakes in South African gold mines" (PI; 2016-2018). ICDP Workshop "Drilling into seismogenic zones of M2.0-M5.5 earthquakes in South African gold mines" (PI; 2015). JST-JICA SATREPS "Observational studies to mitigate seismmic risks in mines" (PI; 2010-2015).
