Research summary
Crystal Growth, Crystallography, Surface Science I identify material's process of reaction and phase transition by focusing on hetero interface and exploiting various microscope methods. Recently, my research has been also targeting organic materials and biopolymer, such as fatty acid and protein, as well as inorganic materials. 【Subject of research (1) Summary】 I use atomic force microscope to observe crystal growth and dissolution process onsite, and consider the elementary process. 【Subject of research (2) Summary】 By making quantum dot on slightly inclined semiconductor board, I identify how surface steps affect the quantum dot. 【Subject of research (3) Summary】 By making functional thin film with ultra-high vacuum plating method and LB method, I seek the effect of growth conditions (type of board, composition, surface structure and external field) on the growth mechanism. 【Subject of research (4) Summary】 I use organic materials (fatty acid, collagen, etc.) that control surface as the board, have them crystallize biomineral (calcium phosphate, calcium carbonate), and find the mechanism. 【Subject of research (5) Summary】 By using appropriate organic board, I control nucleation of protein crystal and its orientation. 【Subject of research (6) Summary】 By taking measures that include drawing phase diagram and performing observation with atomic force microscope, I study the effects of impurities on protein crystal growth. 【Subject of research (7) Summary】 With AFM and FT-IR, I observe absorption phenomena of protein molecules onsite. 【Subject of research (8) Summary】 I measure the structure force (solvent sum force) with atomic force microscope, and find the change of solid-liquid interface structure.
