Research summary
Study on the History of Academic and Thought in the Qing Dynasty
I have been engaged in research on the history of academic thought during the Qing dynasty.
While in graduate school, I studied the study of Textual Research, which flourished in the mid-Qing dynasty, and I am currently engaged in research on the revival of Neo-Confucianism in the early Qing dynasty.
In the study of Textual Research in the mid-Qing dynasty, I have explored the philosophy and thought of scholars in this period through analysis of the scholarly views and exegesis of scholars in this period. At this time, I also analyzed biographical materials of scholars. The reason for this was to capture developments related to academic and thought by examining how scholars of the time approached their studies and how their studies were accepted.
In the study of Neo-Confucianism in the early Qing dynasty, I am examining not only the behavior of the scholars of the time, their relationships and discursive activities, but also their book compiling and publishing activities. This period also saw the compilation and publication of numerous books, including collection of writings by Zhu Xi and his predecessors and successors, Annotations on Confucian scriptures such as the Four Books and Five Classics, Digest version on Neo-Confucianism. The people of this period must have had a special reason or purpose for producing so many of these books, and these books themselves must reflect the characteristics of this period and the state of demand. I believe that by uncovering the foundations that support this kind of the history of academic and thought, we can discover new aspects of scholarly activity in the Qing dynasty.

It is you who create value.
The Chinese classics are sometimes said to be useless or unfashionable, but it is up to the people who face them, not others, to determine the value of things and find them useful.
