概要 This study was conducted make a projection of water stress to evaluate water use/resource sustainability under climate change in the National Capital Region of Malaysia. Three river basins supply water to our targeted region: Selangor, Klang, and Langat. The basin boundary as geomorphological information, and daily precipitation and potential evapotranspiration as current and future meteorological scenarios were set up in the Hydrological Simulation Program-FORTRAN to assess water resources. The evaluation results were summed for each basin to estimate domestic, agricultural, and industrial water demand.
Results show that for instance, water stress 1991–2010 averages and 2041–2060 averages, respectively, as 0.41 and 2.25 for Selangor. In conclusion, water stress was strongly connected with precipitation and population increase. Therefore, this research tackled these issues to provide some pieces of information to prevent water scarcity on the path to sustainable management.
