概要 It is well-recognized that phosphorus treatment performance of horizontal flow constructed wetlands using conventional substrates is normally low and unstable. This study investigates the possibility of using the mixture of ferralsols calcined at 500 0C (CF500) and coal slag (CS) as the wetland substrate to enhance P removal from synthetic wastewater.
The physicochemical properties and phosphorus adsorption behaviors of both CF500 and CS were evaluated. It was found that CF500 had a high P adsorption capacity (qmax = 19.38 mg/g) but low hydraulic conductivity. On the contrary, CS demonstrated a poor P adsorption capacity (qmax = 2.12 mg/g) but good hydraulic conductivity. The mixture of CF500 and CS (with volume ratio of 1.25:1) met essential requirements for a potential wetland substrate. There mixture-based HF-CW units showed a significantly higher P removal efficiency (> 99%) than CS-based HF-CW unit.
